Manmade Studio is currently working on the design and construction supervision of three new bus stops on Ahmed Al Jaber Street in Kuwait City, as part of an initiative commissioned by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and managed by Kuwait Commute.
The project brings together Manmade Studio and Alsager Wertel Architects on the design of the three bus stops, continuing our ongoing interest in how thoughtful architecture can improve Kuwait’s everyday public spaces and public transportation infrastructure.
Moving beyond the conventional bus shelter, the project looks at the bus stop as a small but important piece of urban architecture—one that must respond to Kuwait’s climate while creating a comfortable, functional and recognizable place within the city.
Manmade Studio‘s role extends beyond design into construction supervision, helping carry the architectural intent from drawings into the built project. Construction is being undertaken by Gate Construction, with architectural lighting supplied by DAL Store.
For us, the project is another opportunity to demonstrate that good architecture isn’t defined by scale. Whether designing an entire building, an interior, a piece of furniture or a bus stop, the same attention to material, proportion, construction and detail applies.
We look forward to seeing the three bus stops become part of everyday life on Ahmed Al Jaber Street.
