Sometimes a small piece of architecture can make a surprisingly big impression.
Manmade Studio was approached to design and build a new bus stop in Mahboula, Kuwait, as part of a privately funded initiative to provide the community with a comfortable place to wait for public transport. The project included shaded seating and an integrated drinking-water fountain, creating a simple piece of public infrastructure designed around the people who use it every day.
Not long after it was completed, the bus stop caught the attention of Mark from 2:48AM during his commute to work. He photographed the project and featured it on his popular Kuwait blog in an article titled “Cool Bus Stop Design.” The article highlighted Manmade Studio as the studio behind the design and installation and praised the project as a simple idea that could work across Kuwait.
For us, that was exactly the point.
Good architecture does not always need to be a monumental building. Sometimes it can simply be a shaded place to sit, drink some water, and wait for your bus.
